About The Role

Interview date: Thursday 5th December 2024

We are looking for an inspirational Humanities teacher to join our dynamic and successful faculty. Ealing Fields is a young and academically aspirational school. During the few years we’ve been open we have been in the top 10 schools nationally for student progress. We pride ourselves on the exceptional professional development we offer our teachers which includes weekly CPD and coaching. Our students share our ambition and the standard of behaviour here is outstanding. As a new school within the highly successful Twyford Trust, we also offer exciting development and promotion prospects. Our department is committed to innovating and sharing the best practices in humanities teaching which enables students of all backgrounds and abilities to succeed and enjoy the subjects. Teachers work collaboratively within the department and across our trust, with a highly developed curriculum and lesson resources in place and a very supportive staff body and leadership team. As a small secondary school, it is easy for every child to be well known by every member of staff. We have fostered a close-knit school community with a strong set of values and built around the motto of enabling our students to have ‘Life in all its fullness’.

The main purpose of this teaching role is to achieve outstanding examination results for all classes taught, to lead an outstanding tutor group within a pastoral year team and to promote the school’s ethos and vision through, for example, active engagement with the school’s house system.

The school provides a fantastic training opportunity for either a Geography, RE or History specialist or a general Humanities teacher to support outstanding delivery across the Humanities faculty. The successful applicant would initially teach Geography and RE, however there may be scope to adjust the subject allocation in future for the right candidate. The Ealing Fields ethos is centred around the development of critical and ethical thinking; the school therefore prioritises time in the Humanities at Key Stage 3 and 4.  The students even study a bespoke Ethics course in Year 7 & 8 which teaches critical approaches to developing arguments and provides students with the opportunity to encounter timeless philosophical and ethical questions. The right candidate would have the opportunity to join the Ethics teaching team.

Ealing Fields is easily accessible by public transport with the Piccadilly line a short walk away and regular buses to Ealing Broadway which is served by the Central, District and Elizabeth lines. Our staff are on the inner London pay scales and we welcome applications from both experienced teachers and ECTs.

We offer:

  • Exceptional professional development and career progression
  • Positive working relationships at all levels
  • A supportive Leadership Team
  • A full-range of Trust services providing support and development

The successful candidate will have:

  • A good degree and Qualified Teacher Status
  • Ability to teach either Geography, History or RE to KS4
  • Ability to teach Geography, History or RE to KS3
  • Knowledge of the requirements of the National Curriculum
  • An understanding of recent curriculum / learning developments
  • An understanding of the strategies required to motivate and enthuse all students across the ability range as part of a whole school approach to raising achievement
  • An understanding of the processes and techniques required to assess, record and report students’ learning effectively
  • Ability to be reflective and driven towards self-improvement
  • Energy and enthusiasm
  • A commitment to the ethos of the school

The school reserves the right to research shortlisted candidates on social media platforms and the internet, and the recruitment panel may take this information into consideration during the recruitment process

The Twyford Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  The successful applicant will be required to undergo the child protection screening appropriate to the post, including an enhanced disclosure from the DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) and references from previous employers.  For more information about the DBS please see https://www.gov.uk/disclosure-barring-service-check.  The post-holder will also be expected to read and adhere to the Trust’s Child Protection Policy, and any other Safeguarding documents stated within this.

The Twyford Church of England Academy Trust is committed to creating and sustaining a diverse and inclusive workforce which represents our context and wider community. We are aware that those of Global Majority Heritage/United Kingdom Minority Ethnic (GMH/UKME) and disabled people are currently under-represented among our staff, and we particularly encourage applications from those with the relevant skills and experience that will increase this representation.

About the school

Ealing Fields High School
Ealing Fields High School is part of the Twyford CofE Trust which is the highest performing Trust in the country.  The school, and Trust, offers good promotion prospects for motivated and energetic leaders who support the ethos of our schools.

Ealing Fields High School was opened as a Free School in 2016 and became part of the Twyford CE Academies Trust on 1st September 2017.  Ealing Fields is the smallest of the Trust schools, with only 150 in each Year Group and therefore often feels more like a family than a school.  The staff community is very positive, highly motivated and fully engaged in professional development.  The school moved to its brand-new permanent site in Northfields in September 2020 and achieved a Progress 8 score of +1.34 in 2022 and 2023 and +1.3 in 2024. The team at Ealing Fields is particularly proud of the fact that there were virtually no gaps in the attainment of boys and girls or advantaged and disadvantaged students; this reflects our relentless commitment to providing the best possible education for all students.

Twyford CE Academies Trust

The Twyford Church of England Academies Trust (TCEAT) is a Multi Academy Trust which comprises four secondary schools in the London Borough of Ealing. The Trust was established in October 2011 to enable our heavily oversubscribed existing school, Twyford CE High School, to build on its successes and look outward to the large number of parents who were eager to become part of its community. Over a 10-year period it launched three new schools Ealing Fields, William Perkin and Ada Lovelace all of which have achieved progress outcomes ranking them in the top 1% of schools nationally, making TCEAT the highest performing Trust in the UK including the progress made by disadvantaged students. TCEAT aims to deliver outstanding education in a comprehensive school setting and embraces the Trust motto ‘Life in all its fullness’, encouraging students to use their individual gifts wisely and well. Supported by the London Diocesan Board for Schools (LDBS), TCEAT operates on collaborative principles with some central services to achieve consistency of provision. The Trust has a highly evolved common curriculum running through years 7-13, which has been devised by staff within the four schools. It has thriving post-16 provision, including both A-Levels and T-Levels, and is heavily oversubscribed. Music plays a significant role in the spiritual life of the TCEAT schools and pastoral systems are strong. The Trust also runs Teach West London, a Teaching School Hub for teacher training and development with outreach to over 330 schools across Ealing, harrow Hillingdon and Hounslow. More recently, TCEAT partnered with Oak National Academy to develop their English Secondary curriculum and produce high-quality resources for pupils in years 7–11. Following this success, a further partnership has evolved with Cam Academy Trust to support them with developing the MFL Curriculum for Oak. This is in collaboration with the Thames West Language Hub, which is an NCLE Language Hub run by TCEAT which aims to support high quality language education and high uptake of language learning in the local community. More information can be found on the TCEAT website: https://twyfordacademies.org.uk/
